Instrument
Leica Ultracut UCT
Analysis target
A microtome is a sectioning instrument that allows for the cutting of extremely thin slices of material, known as sections. Microtomes are used in microscopy preparation, allowing for the preparation of samples for light or electron transmission microscopy (TEM).
Analysis characteristics
With good lighting, precise orientation of specimen and knife, plus the control of approach and feed from a separate unit, the Leica UCT will cut sections as thin as 50nm for TEM or quickly cut 1-5 micron sections for light microscopy.
We also have a cryo-chamber for sectioning at temperatures below -100°C.
