Shear Rheometry

Instruments

Two shear rheometer instruments; a ARES-G2 and a AR2000.

 

Analysis target

The determination of thel inear viscoelastic properties of complex fluids, polymer networks and gels. The analysis gives a highly quantitative charactecterization of the mechanical properties of the material. The results provide a key to the molecular structure and relaxation in the sample.

 

Sample prerequisites

All samples must be eithe solutions or moldable into homogeneous disc-like shapes.

 

Analysis characteristics

Mecahnical spectrometers that allow a sample to be subjected to dynamic (oscillatory) or steady shear. Available geometries include parallel-plate, cone-and-plate and concentric cylinder.

 

Sample requirements

Viscosity at least 10 mPas.
